This information is to inform you about the materials that we can provide you in regards to your fillings. Our dentists will give the disadvantages and advantages of each material if you have questions and this will depend on how big is the restoration, whether it is visible in the mouth and the cost of the restoration.

Silver Amalgam: Silver colour, initial low cost. Best in posterior (back) teeth
Gold onlay/inlay: High cost. Any size or cost
Composite (white) fillings: Tooth coloured. Initial low cost
GIC fillings: . Tooth coloured, not very strong, wears down, mostly used as a temporary filling, fillings in children's teeth prior to exfoliation, caries control
Choice of crowns/bridges:
Metal alone: affordable cost, mostly used in posterior (back) teeth
Porcelain fused to metal: except in areas when particular heavy
grinding habits are present
Ceramic crowns: used when aesthetics is important
Composite veneer: low cost, aesthetic result
Porcelain veneer: high cost, aesthetic result
